Innovative & Sustainable Approach Idea
School vegetable gardens are a great way for children to learn about where their food comes from and to get them excited about eating fresh vegetables. Whether its basil, tomato, cilantro or cucumber, it can be harvested and incorporated into their daily lunches. It’s also a great chance to learn about sustainable gardening! Learning where your food comes from makes for a longstanding healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to overall improve school food by offering nutritious and appealing meals, create an inviting ambiance that encourages healthy eating and supports sustainability by encouraging composting and onsite gardening.
Welcome Letter to Parents/Guardians,
We would like to extend a warm welcome back from your Food and Nutrition team!
My Kid’s Chef is pleased and excited to be the lunch service provider for St. Theresa Catholic School. Our mission is to increase student success by providing and promoting a nutritionally balanced diet in a warm and friendly environment. Our school kitchen has a team of highly trained staff, with food & safety and customer service as the highest priority. Our friendly office personnel are here to answer all of your questions and help process payments. Food service operations are managed by me, Director of Food and Service, the Central Kitchen Manager (our executive chef & sous chef), and the Food Service Supervisor, all of whom support the operations and training.
Our team strives to develop a healthy and appetizing meal for students. Many of our foods are made from scratch using the best ingredients including low fat proteins, fresh fruit, vegetables and hormone-free milk.
Choice and variety are important to students, so our menu is planned to provide options. We offer three menu choices daily.
All our meals come with a choice of one (1): milk, water or lemonade, choice of one (1): Chef’s Special, Salad Creations, Pasta Bar or Triple Decker Grilled Cheese option, and one (1) choice from the fresh bar (whole fruit, fruit cup, Parfait or Jell-O). The cost of a lunch meal is $6.50 for 1st thru 8th grade and $5.25 for Kindergarten. We will also provide an a la carte menu which will offer soup, fruit juice, lemonade, chips, cookies, ice creams and desserts at an additional cost. Please note, ice cream sale will be limited to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays exclusively.
Purchasing meals is very easy. Every student is assigned a student ID that is tied to his or her meal account. The account is similar to a checking account, where purchases are deducted from funds applied to the account. Register at https://www.payschoolscentral.com.
Meal restrictions/limits can be placed on your child account at Pay Schools Central.
